Titan Poker Review
Support, software and Banking

Among all the sites established and recognisable on the ipoker network Titan Poker is the most ubiquitous, it can be seen at the head of most ipoker room lists and with Poker770, VC and Betfred tends to lead the pack when it comes to visibility.

They are relative veterans on the ipoker network, having launched in 2005 when ipoker had yet to secure their top-dog status in the online poker world. Because of its position on the ipoker network it is both able to offer many players what they may not find at other ipoker rooms, but at the same time they can afford to be more aggressive in their strategy to get new players, often resulting in the opposite effect and dissuading players to join. Titan seems to operate on a reverse psychology to a site like Coolhand poker. They want players to rake and they want them to stick to Titan. It is the worst aspect to this site, and an example of this is when a player first signs up they will be contacted instantly by the Live Support staff to be ‘notified’ about new offers and repeatedly encouraged to deposit. It is a strong arm tactic that is more likely to turn punters away than entice them to deposit. But aside from these marketing faults Titan really do run a great site which is deservedly on top of the ipoker pile.

Support at Titan is not as user friendly as it should be, and players can be kept waiting for a response. Worse than this the reply is often not an accurate response; they use templates for generic problems and which are evidently misused to save time. To prevent this one can use the Live Chat option, although this can also be slower than at some smaller sites. It is obviously a problem Titan face by being such a big operator and it still has some of the ground level things to fine tune.

The software at ipoker is infinitely better than it was even a year ago. In 2009 they launched their new software, and true to their promise it brings ipoker players into the 2nd decade of the 21st century, leaving the inadequate graphics, un-user friendly features and inoperable lobby tool in the past. Now players can easily cascade tables and resize single tables. Even the cards and chips have improved and provided the room has not chosen a gaudy carpet and table colour, it is a genuine pleasure to look at now.

Banking is standard at Titan and the cashier is clear and easy to use. All of the usual payment methods are optioned and as many nationalities as possible are catered for.

Tournaments and Bonuses

Titan offer the top tier Sign up Bonus, with a 100% up to $600. But the problem is that given such a large sign up bonus it is actually very difficult to achieve the minimum requirements to release it, often leaving players with no incentive after the 60 day play-through period is up.  Titan offer $5 for every 600 Frequent Player Points. Comparing this with other similar offers Titan comes off badly. Many ipoker sites offer this bonus at a 1000 Fpp for $10 ratio, and there are plenty that offer even better rates. For players looking to clear a bonus casually Titan cannot accommodate, as it appears that their bonus is aimed at the mid-high raking daily players as only they really have a chance of receiving the whole $600 bonus.

For tournaments Titan is really a vehicle for promoting network events, with very few Titan-exclusive events on offer. They heavily promote the monthly $1,000,000 GTD Event, with lots of satellites at all sorts of levels to qualify throughout the month. Titan are also the site that push the ECOOP series more than any other, capitalising on the hugely valuable $14,000,000 combined prizepool of this now famous series of versatile poker events. Many recreational and casual players have been made into full time pros through cashing in these events, as they have much more chance than in the crapshoot tournaments running on Pokerstars and Full Tilt equivalent series’.
